QuestionQUESTION: Hello, last Wednesday, a week ago today i had a medical abortion at 9weeks. The prcedure went fine and i passed the pregnancy in hospital. Over the past week i have been passing a couple of clots and had some pain. I have conciderd this as normal until this morning. When i woke up i was fine, i went to the toilet to pee and when i stood up it felt as though all the muscles in my abdominal area had been almost pulled. Now all day its been hurting to move and it hurts to touch on the left and right side, but not as sore in the middle.
I'm worried this could be a sign of infection?
I havnt had pain this bad all week,

I am not quite clear on what kind of abortion you had. Was it surgical, or did they give you pills? If they gave you pills, where did you take them? What part of the body?
Having an abortion is not normal. Any kind of pain is generally a sign of abnormality. In addition, if you had anesthetic, there is always the possibility that the toxins of the anesthetic could have caused dislocation of joints. I don't know how many people have this problem, but probably a lot more than you might think. Consequences of abortion can be severe, and yes, infection is a possibility. So is injury to your uterus if you have a pill abortion and the contractions are too strong, or if you had a surgical abortion, and they injured your uterus or other internal organs.
I'm sure they didn't warn you about the increased chance of getting breast cancer. If this was your first pregnancy in particular, you now have a greatly increased chance. This kind of breast cancer can strike as early as when a woman is in her 30's, and it kills 1/4 of its victims.
It is doubtful they really told you what kind of complications can happen as a result of abortion. You are entitled to this information before you submit. It is called "informed consent".

I had the 2 tablet abortion, i took the first one on the monday orally, then had the 2nd tablet inserted into my vagina by a nurse. I'm from the UK so i had it done one the NHS (National Health Service) in hospital

Thank you so much for this additional information. Unfortunately, an infection that could kill you is a definite possibility. You need to be tested IMMEDIATELY for Clostridium sordellii. If you have it, they need to start aggressive treatment IMMEDIATELY. This type of infection can kill within hours. Whoever took care of you committed malpractice. These tablets are not supposed to be given to a pregnant woman AT ALL, let alone in the vagina!
The problem is that the pills will cause what is normally a fairly benign organism, Clostridium sordellii, to take over the body and go raging through. The body does not fight back. So I am going to keep this short. Get to the hospital immediately and tell them to test for Clostridium sordellii. Tell them that the body doesn't fight back, so if you have it, they will have to give you every possible treatment for this type of infection. I will pray for you, because I am very concerned.
