QuestionI am a 28 year old with an ear infection. I went to the doc yesterday and he said there was so much pus he couldn't see my ear drum and couldn't tell if I had an outer or inner ear infection, so he's treating me for both.
I have drops, antibiotic pills and pain pills.
What can I do for the pain? The pain pills say one every 6 hours (Hydrocodone 7.5) but after 3 hours they wear off and I'm in extreme pain from the pressure for 3 hours again.
How long should this take to clear up?
Is there anything I can do to remove some of the pus? Like a bulb syringe like you use on a baby nose/mouth?
Any suggestions for pain releif or to speed healing would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time!
AnswerWhat can I do for the pain? You need to get the pus and wax out of that ear canal first then the drops can work.
How long should this take to clear up? 24 hours at most after the ear is cleaned out.
Is there anything I can do to remove some of the pus? Like a bulb syringe like you use on a baby nose/mouth? Yes with warm clean water and gentle syringing. If you see blood stop and get a professional to do the washing, like a nurse or doctor in the neighborhood.
What exact meds are you on?
