Prostatitis Symptoms & Treatment: A 65-Year-Old's Experience

Question
I'm 65 and normally in excellent health. I'm an avid distance runner and run daily. About 3 weeks ago during dinner I had a sudden onset of nausea. It lasted about 30 minutes. I didn't think anything of it at the time and don't know it's even related to this question. Two weeks after this incident I suddenly had complete urinary retention. After 3 trips to the urologist, a ct scan, and a cystoscopy, it determined I had prostititus. I was given flomax and cipro 500mg, twice a day. With the cipro I do have some occasional nausea but it passes. I've been on it for ten days and today during lunch (I was very hungry) I had another bout of sudden nausea in the middle of my meal. Wonder if it relates at all to the previous incident even though I wasn't on cipro at the time? Only other thing though is my running- I run a lot and probably don't drink as much as I should. Wonder if that could have caused all my problems- the nausea and retention. Urologist doesn't think so. Should say that my cystoscopy and ct scan were both negative. Wonder what you think. Thanks

Answer
despite being a runner, I would wonder if that is an atypical heart presentation....  if you haven't had a cardiac workup.... stress test or more, then I would have that done right away.

The nausea may have been related to low grade prostatitis.  Also, possibility of some gallstones, one rolls into the neck of gall bladder and causes symptoms and then clears.

Sounds like you have some tests that need doing.........

I hope this helps.....
