Post-Allergy Skin Sensitivity: Causes & Relief

Question
Hi:

Is it normal to have skin irritation in the form of slight itching/skin crawling feeling after an allergy attack that caused hives on body. I did receive an injection at the doctor's office and antihistamines for ten days and the hives disappeared within 48 hours, but it is over two weeks now and my skin still feels very sensitive and I find myself still itching in places with skin crawling feeling at times, but there are no hives just irritation and itching. Is this normal and should I keep taking antihistamines? How long can it last for? I think the allergy was to a new medicine I began to take for a sinus problem or even a possible hair dye, as the attack happened during the new medication and after I had my hair dyed (although I have use the same color for months with no problem).

Many thanks.

Answer
it isn't unusual to still have a skin crawling feeling... if there are no rashes or hives, you don't really have to take any of the antihistamines but you could if you wanted to.  Sometimes that feeling may last for a couple of weeks, but should fade away.
