Recurring Group A Strep & Bacterial Vaginosis: Causes & Management

Question
I have had two positive cultures [vaginal] for Group A Strep and one treatment given without culture [symptoms recurred shortly after initial antibiotic therapy was finished]. The last GAS was diagnosed and treated as PID [bloodwork and symptoms].
Also have had three BV infections. All this within the last eight months.
I am a 56 year old post menopausal woman with no history of gyne problems ever!
Any ideas why Strep A occurs/recurs?

Answer
Strep is usually not a concern in the vagina unless you are pregnant.... it is impossible to sterilize thhat area.  Strep usually doesnt cause symptoms... we worry about transmission to a baby during delivery.  So dont worry about strep.   Sometimes bacterial vaginosis is hard to treat....
