Recurring Strep Throat: Causes, Prevention & When to Worry
QuestionI had a drug-resistant strep throat about five years ago that took three rounds of antibiotics to cure. Now it seems I get strep every year - just diagnosed again yesterday. Before that bad one I hadn't had strep since childhood. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or should I be concerned?
Thanks
AnswerGet your close family members checked to make sure they are not carriers (people who have the bacteria but not the disease) and then good handwashing to prevent transmission.... there isn't any magical prevention. If you had difficult to get rid of strep, the future strains should be the normal garden variety kind.....
