Irregular Periods & Spotting: Understanding Perimenopause & Next Steps

Question
Hello,
I am 49 years old.  My periods have been slightly irregular or 1 year.  Since August i have had some spotting inbetween periods and instead of a normal period.  I had an ultrasound in September and a uterine biopsy in November.  Everything came back normal.  I had some spotting for 6 days in October, and started my period on December 28th.  It has been very light and the last 2 days has just been spotting.  It does not show any signs of stopping  and i am on day 9.  How long can I just let the spotting go?  It is very light and only when i wipe.  Please advise.

Answer
since you had the biopsy... that shows that there is no uterine cancer, but typically, this will fade over 6 months to a year and you will go into full menopause....   I would let it go 6 months from November and talk to the doc if it hasn't stopped.   I assume you had thyroid tests at some point in this workup.... I would have checked that also.
