Sore Throat After Tonsil Spots: Viral or Something Else?

I have a question about my sore throat. I had white spots on both tonsils which are now gone but there are now red sores in their place. There has never been much pain but it now burns a little. I did have a strep test on 10/15 it was negative. Is this normal healing or more?

white spots on tonsils suggest but don't absolutely mean strep.....    little pain and the fact that it got better and a neg strep test give evidence that it was just a viral sore throat.    If you do get increased fever or pain, then you might want a re-evaluation, otherwise, give it a little more healing time.
