Understanding and Managing Severe Muscle Soreness During Pregnancy
QuestionI have a similar problem to sore quads/glutes. I have a toddler and now I'm 10 weeks pregnant. Monday, I had a pain in my chest, like if I could just crack my chest it would relieve the tension. I thought it was because I usually sleep on my stomach and now I have to sleep on my left side and perhaps my shoulders squeeze together and forward. The following night I woke up with my abs and hips hurting. The following day I got up from my desk and my gluts and thighs: front and back hurt. The following night it was more painful so I had to take tylenol. I couldn't move, my biceps and forearms, under pits, breast, neck and decote area became soar. I went to my doctor that morning. After a usual prenatal check up she just blew it off. She said to stop walking for a while, continue my prenatal vitamins and take tylenol. It helps, but I need to take 1 or 2 pills every six hours. Its now the fourth day and after 5 days the instructions are to see the doctor. Also the last day I went for a walk was Friday, Sept. 4 2009. Its now September 12 2009. Could I be low in potassium or something? Could it be a more serious problem?
AnswerYour pain is unusual and it's too bad that your OBGYN did not take your seriously. From your pain level, it sounds like you might be dealing with a pinched nerve or other alignment problem. I suggest that you consult with either a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist, who can accurately diagnose why you are in pain and give appropriate treatment. Since you are only 10 weeks along, I doubt that this pregnancy has contributed to your condition.
