Postpartum Period Delay: Causes, Concerns, and When to Seek Medical Advice

Question
If anyone knows how to help me get my period please let me know. It's been 13 weeks since I gave birth and I did not breast feed at all (no milk supply) and I still do not have my period. I'm not pregnant because I take prego tests every week and we're using protection, but I've had thick, whitish with blood mucous every since i stopped bleeding heavily after my delivery. i dont know whats wrong and my doctor says NO BIGGIE!!!

Answer
If your doctor says everything is okay, you may want to relax a bit and let it go for a while.  If you also had no milk after your delivery, and especially if you had a c-section, it's possible that the delivery was much harder on your body than you realized.  This can delay the return of your periods, even without breastfeeding.  Take it easy for a while longer (no strenuous exercise), and pay extra attention to your diet to make sure your body gets all the nutrition it needs.  If you still don't see your period within another month, seek out a second opinion from another doctor.
