Answer
Shama,

I'm so sorry for your loss.

There could be many reasons why you haven't conceived yet.  Birth control pills can effect the return of your normal cycle for several months.  It's not uncommon for conception to take up to a year.  90% of couples conceive on their own within 18 months.

It may seem even longer this time because you conceived so quickly the first time, which is more rare.  You have only a 20% chance of conceiving each month when intercourse is well-timed.

To increase your chances of conception, you must understand when in your cycle you ovulate and have intercourse in the 2 days prior to ovulation for the best chances of conception.

You can track your body temperature to see when you typically ovulate, such as at fertilityfriend.com

Most doctors will not see a couple until they have been trying unsuccessfully for more than a year.  So, if no other complications are present, try tracking your fertility to increase your odds of conception.

Best,
Catherine
