Missing Period & PMS: Causes & What to Do

Question
Hi, I'm 38, never had any children. I was on the pill from age 16 to 32.  Had my tubes tied five years ago.  My periods have ALWAYS been regular for the past 26 years, but this time it was different.  I should have gotten my period on Feb 21,( my last normal period was Jan 20-25.)  I had all the usual PMS symptoms that I would normally have, but I never got my period.  No spotting or anything.  I took a home pregnancy test yesterday (March 3), and it went instantly to negative.  I am healthy, not over or underweight, no medical problems. (That I know of!)

Answer
As you approach youyr 40s, you can occasionally miss a period or have two in one month, due to hormonal imbalance. If the pregnancy test was negative, and you do not get your period by the end of March, make an appointment with your gynecologist and have your period induced (Provera 10mg twice a day for five days).
