Numbness & Tingling in Hand/Arm While Sleeping: Causes & Relief

Question
Hello.  For the last few nights when I sleep my arm and hand "goes to sleep".  This is only on the right side and I don't have to be laying on the arm.
It starts to go away once I am up and moving around.
What could cause this?  What can I do about it? Thanks.

I am a healthy young woman with no major medical problems other than TMJ.  I know that TMJ can cause tingling in the hands, is this what that is?

Answer
Hi R,
This can be either from compression of the blood vessels or nerves coming from the neck to the arm or even carpal tunnel syndrome. A lot has to do with the position of the arm and hand during sleep. I would see your healthcare provider to have this sorted out so that treatment can be optimized for your condition.
