VBAC Journey: Preparing for a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean

Question
I am due 6-6-07 (based on long cycles and late ovulation) and this is my 2nd child.  My first was induced late and ended up an emergency c/s due to the umbilical cord around his neck.  This time I am attempting a VBAC.  My husband and I have been taking all of the supplements recommended by the midwife to help ripen me as I did not last time and at this point I am 1-2 cm dilated, almost completely effaced, and had bloody show two days ago.  I am still not feeling hardly anything, just minor Braxton Hicks not even worth timing.  Is it possible to be this far along body wise and not have any contractions?  My husband and I have been trying the natural ways to induce (short of castor oil bc I dont want to do that) and I have been relaxing with meditation CDs, so I do not feel overly anxious but I just want to know what to look for.  I know regardless I will have a baby in 2 weeks but just wondered what your thoughts were.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
It is perfectly normal not to feel any serious contractions until labor begins.  Many women dealing with weeks of prodromal contractions would envy you the peace and quiet you are now enjoying.  Continue with your relaxation, as this has the best chance of encouraging you to go into labor; when your body and mind don't feel safe and secure, they can inhibit labor.  And advance congratulations on your new baby!
