Microgestin & Leg Pain: Could This Be a Blood Clot?

Question
Hello, I just started taking microgestin 1/20. I've only taking it for 2 days so far but have been experiencing twicthing/throbbing in my leg. Im a little paranoid. This is the first time i've taken any birth control in my life, Im 21 years. I mostly noticed it on my left leg and now today ive discovered a tender area on my left upper arm when pressed. Is i possible to have blood clots after 2 days? im really worried. I once had a small surface clot in my right leg that cleared up in a few days, it was months ago.that might be relevant.

thank you

Answer
Blood clots seem unlikely after only 2 days on the pill.  The tender area in your upper arm also is not suggestive of a blood clot.  Twitching of your leg is not suggestive of a blood clot, but throbbing might be.  Since you have a history of a blood clot, I would be a little concerned, but not overly.  I would probably keep taking the pill for a little while and see whether the leg throbbing continues.  If so, I would see your doctor to have it evaluated.
