QuestionCAN I RECEIVE SWEDISH MASSAGE EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A BLOOD CLOT IN MY
CALF, AND ON BLOOD THINNING MEDICATION? JUST AVOID THE CALF??
AnswerHi Lilly,
Thank you for your question. Any time a patient is on blood thinning medication, I prefer that they get the OK from their physician before getting massage, in general. A blood clot in the lower leg is always what's called a "local contraindication" and should definitely be avoided. Consult your physician regarding massage therapy and if its appropriate for you. I hope that you found this answer helpful.
