QuestionI am in my second year of college and so far I have done a lot of research papers on Abortion. I am actually against them but I'm interested in other views. Most of the sites that I go to that deal with abortion make it seem like a disgusting and inhumane process. What are your views on D&X and the saline treatment? How do you think abortion is justified when someone just "doesn't want" the baby? What is your thoughts on when it is actually considered a human life? What are your thoughts on adoption and reasons the mother could not just give it away instead of "getting rid" of it. Also any other information you think would help me understand would be great. Thank you,
AnswerHi Samantha :)
What's wrong with not wanting to take on 18 years of non stop care for another human being's life? And why on earth would you ever want a child to be raised by a parent who didn't want them?
D&Xs are not my business. What other women do with their body parts? Not my business. If they're not a legal option, they'll be done illegally. Women need those for their health-physical, mental.
I don't know when i consider a human life. That doesn't matter, because I don't get to impose my opinion on other people and dictate their reproductive lives because of it.
"getting rid of" a group of cells? Not the same as going through 10 months of pregnancy, labor, birth and then having to surrender the baby. That, not abortion, can have some pretty awful mental health consequences. Let me know if you would like those sources. Adoption is the alternative to parenthood, not abortion.
I think it's scary we don't force inmates on death row to donate organs or blood, yet we require that of women, as if they're human incubators, worth nothing more than the children they bear.
Women have the right to have sex free of parenthood, just as men do.
