Possible Pregnancy After Abortion: Symptoms & Concerns
QuestionI had my surgical abortion on Jan 17 2009( I was 6 weeks)my morning sickness went away as soon as the procedure was done. I had unprotected sex on Jan 26, 30 and other days afterwards...started my first birth control pill on Feb 9 and have been taking them religiously..Yet I have been experiencing all the signs I had during my first pregnancy..sore swollen breast, fatigue, nausea, back pain and even the cramping is back( I kept thinking its my menstrual cycle but it wasn't). Im not sure if this is because of the pill..(its my first time ever taking it). Im on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo..so Im confused..do you think I may have gotten pregnant again?
AnswerDear Lisa,
Your symptoms could be from the birth control, though it is certainly possible that you are pregnant again. You had unprotected sex for two weeks during a time you could have been ovulating. Unfortunately, this is a common mistake many women make after ending a pregnancy because they think it's too early to get pregnant again. The best thing would be to check a pregnancy test. By now, it should be negative from the first pregnancy.
Good luck!
