Pregnancy After Abortion: Risks, Symptoms & What To Do

Question
I had a surgical abortion on June 14th and had sex almost a month after(July 11). I used a condom but I am really scared that I am pregnant again. I thought I would be ok since I used protection but I was getting nervous so 3 days after I took plan b(i know you can take it up to 72 hours but it is not as effective).  Now I am just getting very nervous and leave for a 5 month vacation in two weeks and am not sure if   I go to the doctor what I will do if I have to have another abortion.  Should i take a pregnancy test, and what are my chances of being positive? I don't think I can deal with being pregnant and having an abortion a second time in such a short period of time.

Answer
Hi Michelle,

I can't tell you if you're pregnant but there is a chance from what you told me that you could be. Condoms are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. I would recommend that you get a pregnancy test. You can get a free one at a local pregnancy resource center and you can find one at http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP.
If you are not in the U.S. then go to http://www.heartbeatinternational.org/worldwide_directory.asp

I don't know the chances of being positive. Just get the test and then we can talk more. My email address is DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
Also, we have a group if you want to join unplanned preg group

Let me know what else I can do for you.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
