Delayed Period After Abortion: Causes & What To Do

Dear Cheryl,
I am 26 and have always had an irregular period...on Sept 9, 2009 I had my very first and very last abortion ever. This would have been my 2nd pregnancy, I have a 1 year old, any way, my boyfriend and i had intercourse the following week...and then some weeks from that. It is now November 16th and still no period. I've taken repeated pregnancy test and all are negative..I'm very concerned..what should I do?

It's possible that your period just isn't coming because of the abortion. Lots of women have irregular periods after abortion and if you are irregular anyway, chances of that happening are possible. You should have not had sex for 2 weeks after your abortion. Did you have a post abortion checkup after the abortion? It's also possible that you can be pregnant and still have  a negative test. This has happened to women before. So see what happens in the next week and consider having a free test at a local pregnancy resource center. Go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP.
