Post-Abortion Period & Birth Control: What to Expect

Hi, i had a surgical abortion (12 weeks pregnancy) early december 2009. it's been more than a month and i still havent gotten my period yet. i read that it only take 4weeks for a woman to recover from abortion. also, my doctor asked me to take birth control pills (yasmin) after the abortion but i did not as i want to wait until i get my period. is it normal for me to miss my period and also, should i start taking the birth control pills immediately?

You doc was right.
When you start with Yasmin immediately after the abortion you are much faster back in your normal period scheme.
Do not worry. Just patience will do the trick. Periods after abortion are fully unpredictable, possibly for months.
