QuestionHi. I had a surgical abortion 9 months ago as I contracted Rubella in week 7 of pregnancy. It was a difficult decision. We have been ttc for 7 months now, waiting 2 months after the procedure but I am not pregnant.
I am worried because 1) my periods have become much lighter. Is this normal even 9 months post op? I am worried that there may have been damage to my uterus and this is causing the lighter periods - have you heard of Ashermans'syndrome? I know it is rare but I haven't seen anything on the web saying that lighter periods are common/normal after abortion.
2) Also, I already have a daughter, and conceived her within 1 cycle of ttc, and with the lost pregnancy, also within 2 cycles.
Am I simply being impatient, or do you think I may have some damage that is causing the lighter periods and preventing conception?
PLEASE KEEP MY EMAIL AND NAME PRIVATE
AnswerFrom what you are describing, I would say no. You can have lighter periods after a procedure. The diagnose of Asherman's is difficult to make. You could have other reasons for not conceiving. I would just go and have a basic gynecological evaluation. Please try not to worry. Even just worrying csn prevent conception.
