I am totally confused..she has given me regestrone 5mg tablets to take thrice a day for 5days....if at all i am pregnant the ultra sound would hve shown it right??

ANSWER: Hello, smitha,

If you took a blood test which was negative, and you think you would have been six weeks, and the ultrasound didn't find anything, either, it is very unlikely you are pregnant. So I think it is best not to worry. Ultimately, you will have to wait and see, but it does seem unlikely. Apparently the doctor feels your hormones are not properly balanced, and I hope the tablets she gave you will help. Getting a woman's hormones balanced is not trivial. Try to eat in a healthy way, and get plenty of rest. Let me know what happens, and take care.

Answer
Hello, smitha,

Nobody is going to be able to tell you over the internet if you are pregnant or not. If you are 6 weeks from your last menstrual period, ultrasound may or may not see the baby, but if you are 6 weeks from when you thought you conceived, it probably would. Even if you are 6 weeks from your last menstrual period, you should get a positive home pregnancy test (unless the test is old or defective). I am quite sure that there is a lot of variation in thickness of the endometrium, which is well within normal range; some women bleed quite a bit more than other women. Information about the thickness of the endometrium during a non-pregnant state is surprisingly difficult to find on the web. I found one reference that says the average is 6.7mm. Yours isn't much thicker than that. This is a question you can ask the doctor. The doctor may mean that your endometrium is what it should be for pregnancy to occur. I think largely you will have to wait and see. But I think that if you are at least 6 weeks along, you should have SOME kind of indication you are pregnant, whether it is a positive home pregnancy test, tender breasts, excessive need to sleep, possibly morning sickness (but not always), and so on. Realistically, since nobody can examine or test your body over the internet. it is better for you to ask your doctor these questions.

PCOD is another issue, and again, it is best to ask your doctor about that.

Keep in touch and let me know what happens. Don't take any chances on your health. If you are pregnant, please don't have an abortion. It is very, very dangerous and can kill you or seriously disable you, or your future children. You deserve better. I will try to help you find some resources if you need them. Take care.
