QuestionI took a pregnancy test with a CVS digital test it turned up positive. I took a few more test and one at the doctors all in about a few weeks, they came out negative. I also have had a yeast infection and i was wondering if it could affect the test. I don't have a period so I couldn't tell if i missed it or not. I am still breast feeding my kid. I guess I am wondering if having a yeast infection will cause false negative pregnancy test or a positive.
AnswerHi Jennifer :)
No, a yeast infection will not influence your pregnancy test result in the least. Its an infection of the bacteria inside the vagina. Sometimes the bacteria goes off kilter, and causes a yeast infection. But again, in no way does it affect the HCG levels carried in your blood, and urine.
I am curious to know, how old your child is. I cant help but wonder, if your HCG level was high enough to trigger a positive reading, because you are still carrying the hormone from his/hers pregnancy. If the baby is only 6-8 weeks old, this very well could be the case.
Different brands of pregnancy tests, demand a certain amount of the HCG hormone to be in the urine, to determine pregnancy. Not all these tests are the same. So perhaps the CVS test, demands minimal HCG ammounts, as where other tests, including the doctors would demand a substancially higher level, to give you a positive reading.
I think that if your doctor did the blood test, and its negative, then its very unlikely you are pregnant.
Hope this answers your questions, and I hope you got over your yeast infection ..They are terrible, arent they? I HATE them with a passion ..lol
If you have any more questions, dont hesitate to ask :)
