Paraffin Wax Dipping Safety: Multi-User Guidelines

Question
hello,
I have a question about parrafin dip.
Is it sanitary to  have multiple people dip their hands in the same parraffin dip bowl. I have them wash their hands and throw away the wax, but still worry that germs could be floating in the wax from past clients. Is there another way to let clients enjoy the parraffin on their hands/ feet without dipping them. I have tried painting parrafin on them but it dries on the brush before it readches their skin. thanks for the info.

Answer
Greetings Leesa. This is a very improtant issue when dealing with parrafin. There is a small chance that you will have some bacteria present in the wax after multiple dips. The temperature that the wax is kept at does discourage some germs, but over time can actually culture them. There are some solutions, though.

Having the client wash their hands is a good step, as soap, even non-antibacterial ones, kill most germs. (By the way, if you have not heard this before, the anti-bacterial soaps kill both harmful and helpful bacteria ion the skin, and is thought to do more harm than good.) You can also have them, as an added step, then use a germ killing hand lotion.

I have just recently started seeing companies address this problem. Some wax companies are starting to make a parrafin wax mixed with an antibacterial agent, often triclosan. This kills any germs that might grow in the wax. I have never used them, though, so I have no idea if the triclosan affects the product in any way, like altering the smell.

In regards to other methods to apply the wax, one technique involves dipping a paper towel in the wax and then applying it to an area. Place several wax towels on to keep the warmth in. For brushing the wax on, try putting a small amount in a coffee mug, and painting from that. It will allow you to hold the wax close to the body and keep it liquid while you paint it on.

I hope this helps, Leesa. Please feel free to write if I can help in any other way. Also feel free to rate me on AllExperts.
