Stopping Birth Control: What to Expect After Discontinuing Pills

Question
My question is... I have been married for a year 1/2. I have been on birth control for about 3 1/2 years. I am currently at a job that does not give any type of benefits (medical, dental, etc...) I recieved a 12 month supply of my pills and I will be finished with them at the end of Febuary. I don't have the money to get them through another doctor. I was wondering what would happen if I stopped taking them. We are very carful at all times even with the pill. We do want to become pregnant at some time but we are just not sure when. If it would just happen at anytime it would be a suprise but a good suprise. Will stopping the pill have any effects on me or my being able to get pregnant when ready?

Answer
For about a month after you stop them you may have some troubles getting pregnant just because your body is trying to produce the hormones that the pills were giving it all this time.  This should last no more than a month though.  Have you tried going to planned parenthood?  They offer financial assistance in these situations.  You can sometimes get free supplies and discounted visits.  Check to see if you have one in your area.  You should definately think about using condoms or gels or something along those lines.  Even the pulling out method does not work.  Good Luck!
