Acrylic Nail Regrowth: What to Expect & How to Minimize It

Question
I had acrylic nails applied for the first time on Friday afternoon.

I went to a salon that had been recommended by several friends.

I push my own cuticles down regularly and I did this before my appointment at the salon.  I don't remember the manicurist pushing my nails down at all.

Now, after only 2 days I have approx 3mm of regrowth.I have a french manicure (rounded tips - if that makes a difference) and it is noticeable simply because the bottoms of my nails aren't shiny.  Is there anything I can do to disguise this?  I have thought about taking the varnish off and repainting but the white tips are airbrushed and look really nice and I would never be able to get the same effect.  I also have an acrylic nail kit in my bathroom that was bought for me for Xmas (Sally Hansen).  I have never used it as I would mess it up.  Is there anything that would be in there that I could use to disguise the regrowth?

Would it be ok to just paint a clear varnish over the whole nail?

Answer
Acrylic nails should have a tiny margin between the cuticle and the product to avoid lifting, but this tiny gap shouldn't be 3mm, it should be 1 or less. You are right about your cuticles, they should of been pushed back, and adhering cuticles should of been scraped off your nails to avoid lifting.
I think the best option is to go back and ask for them to provide a solution. I'm sure you didn't pay for your nails to look good for 2 days, right? Go there, talk it over, maybe they can give them a quick fix without much messing and try to do them better the next time.
I say this because this would be what i would like a client of mine to do. I'm certanly not perfect, but i'm always trying to improve!
Sorry for taking longer that usual to reply, but wasn't able to send my response when i originally received the question.
