Question-Thanks so much for your reply! It's my first day with the wraps and it feels sort of tight and a little painful if I touch them at certain angles. It's going away now, but basically it was a little painful for about 24 hours. Also what is the procedure with getting the wraps taken off? The powder did have an odor, but I didn't think anything of it because I've always smelled something while other people were getting acrylic on their nails at different salons. If the acrylic were EMA would there be no odor at all? And what are the side effects of MMA acrylic, is there any way for me to know on my own?
Again, thank you so much for answering my question

Question -
I just got acrylic wraps on my own nails and it feels a little uncomfotable. I have been getting regular weekly manicures for years, but i was tired of my nails always breaking and this is the first time I have tried acrylic. My main concern is that the acrylic not be MMA. Is there anyway for me to tell or make sure other than asking the staff, because they said it is not. Thanks a lot.
Answer -
You're right about asking for non-MMA product, this stuff can be very dangerous. Usually this stuff has a very strong odour and technicians have to work with maks, also they usually use non-branded product. Definately be on the look out for these! About your nails feeling uncomfortable this is not how they should feel. Talk to your nail technician about it and if he/she isn' able to fix it contact another technician. Perhaps you could explain to me a little better why your nails feel uncomfortable.
Hope i could help.
Good nail days!
AnswerIts normal for acrylics to have odor, but MMA has a very stong odour, I never experinced it myself, it's just what i've heard. MMA it's a very hard product and can seriously harm the natural nails because if you were to break a nail with MMA, not only the enhancment would break, but also your own nail! Also there can be some cases of over-exposure.
About this tightness, i suspect that your technician is using smaller tips than what she is suposed to. Tips should match the curve and size of the nails. This is why the technician should have diferent tipe of tips for diferent clients (with flat or naturally curved nails), or sometimes a larger tip needs to be selected and then file the sides to make the size match (if you know what i mean). Be sure to mention this disconfort on you next visit. Your technician should take note and correct this.
About the removal procedure, it's basicly soaking the enhancements in acetone and then buffing the remaning product, but i recomend this should be done by a professional as some precautions are made to insure that the natural nails aren't harmed.
