QuestionThe Place where I took my classes was called "Troutmans College of Manicuring" here in Raleigh NC.They didn't teach Well by the way. I thought it was a waste of $$ b/c we learn by ourself and they didn't teach how we all wanted. oh,and I use tips most of the time but not the white tips, just regular ones. N-ways here are my steps for My Acrylics w/the regular tips:
1.I remove polish if any.
2.I push cuticle
3.I remove the shine from the nails w/a buffer.
4.I size the tips
5.I apply nail antiseptic
6.I apply adhesive on the tip
7.I put the tip on the nails (here's where I screw up w/the bubbles)
8.I apply the adhesive to the steam o the middle part.
9.I let all the nails dry a few min.and then I trim the tip
10.I blend the tip into the natural nail
11.I buff the tip and then shape it
12. After I'm finish w/that, I apply the nail primer to all nails
13.I dip my brush to the acrylic liquid and then the white to form a ball.
14.I place the ball of acrylic in the buttom of the nail tip.
15.I pat on it and then I shape the white into a "smile"
16.I file sidewalls to free edge.
17.I do the same thing w/the pink.
18.When it's kinda dry,I just get my machine and buff the top until it's smooth and feels like the natural nail.
19.I then brush the nail to remove dust
20.I apply cuticle oil at the end or just top coat to make it look shinier.

Hi Victoria,
I took classes for Manicure, pedicure, artificial nails etc.about a yr. ago But I lost my book and my papers.I kinda forgot how to do Gel Nails and Acrylic Nails.By the way, when I did Acrylic nails,I always had bubbles inside the tip and u could tell alot b/c they were the regular ones.I try and I end up w/the bubbles. What am I doing wrong? How can I make my Acrylics look smooth? Everytime I do the pink w/the brush, it doesn't look smooth. Mines weren't that good looking.
If there's a website or if u can help me would be fine.thanks!

Hi Vanesa,
Can you please tell me where you took your courses for both your uv gel and l&p acrylic? And what product lines you are using? And are you sculpting or tipping?
Also, please list your prep and steps to performing the enhancements and I'll try to pinpoint the issue.
Please let me know thanks.
AnswerHi Vanesa,
Ok, yup, sounds like a bad school. The first thing is fitting tips properly. If they are too narrow for the nail, move a size up and and just trim/file the sides a bit to fit it to the nail. When a tip is poorly fitted it will pop up and/or create bubbles. Also, when applying the tip, you need to sort of 'rock it' onto the nail and not just lay it down. Fit the free edge into the well with the tip at an angle and 'rock it' on (hope I'm explaining this well). Too little adhesive and too much pressure can cause air bubbles between the tip and the nail. Be generous with your adhesive, apply tip firmly BUT not too much or you'll squeeze out all the adhesive and be left with air bubbles. Wipe away excess adhesive. do not reapply more adhesive along the seam. This is a waste and you'll buff it away when you blend anyhow.
Also, before applying primer, you must 1)dust the nail after filing it 2)wipe with a dehydrator or similar, then you can apply the primer.
If you are getting bubbles in your acrylic itself, then this is the mix ratio of the liquid to powder which I can't help you with. Each brand of acrylic has it's own ratio. You'll need to contact the brand manufacturer/distributor to find out what that ratio is.
Hope this helps
best regards
