Fixing Dry, Rough Cuticles: Break the Nipping Cycle

Question
I tend to have very hard, rough, dry cuticles and nail beds. I have been very heavy-handed with my cuticle nippers lately, leaving my skin red, raw, and sometimes bloody. As the new skin grows in, it becomes rough, which starts my cycle of "nipping" all over again. Do you have any advice for stopping this cycle?

Answer
Hi Kimberly
Your nipping is what is causing the vicious cycle. I try to nip sparingly because when you cut the cuticle skin it grows back thicker and harder hence you start the cycle. Try getting some Solar cuticle oil and putting it on everynight before bed and use a really rich hand lotion too Solar Butter is great. Condition and don't pick. Do this for a couple of weeks then go in for a manicure. Conditioning will soften the skin enough for proper maitenance and once you have your manicure keep conditioning the same. This will prevent any future build up.
Good luck.
