Understanding Discolored Nails: Causes & Solutions
QuestionHi my name is Stephanie and I have been bitting my finger nails for years. I have finally stopped bitting them and am now letting them grow out. They have grown out quite a bit so far, but after taking a shower today I realized that my once really white nail tips had turned blotchy colored...between beautiful white and see through yellowish colored. What caused this? Was is from the soap I used, or are they too dry....? and how do I get them pear white again? oh and I haven't been using nail polish because I know that's not good for your nails...
AnswerWhen your nails get wet, they can become see through, and the natural pigment of your nail plate has a good bit of yellow in them. I wouldn't be worried about them unless they become thick and brittle, or painful.
Regular application of a good quality cuticle oil will help too, just be patient and your nails will get back to normal soon. :)
