Acrylic Nails & Nail Bed Pain: Causes & Relief

Question
I had acrylics before and noticed that for the first day my nail beds would
hurt after having them applied but it would disappear after the first day. I
always had them put on quite long though. After a few years I have finally
gone back and had acrylics put on. It has now been 3 days and my nail beds
still hurt a little. I have the nails at an active length. I almost feel like pulling
them off but I love the way they look and I have never had this problem for
this long before. What causes this? Thanks for any assistance.

Answer
hi paula
any pain in the nail bed after any nail application is a sign of damage or trauma.
some of the things likely to cause this are:
tips put on that are too small
a drill or file used aggressively directly on the nail plate, which is uneccessary.
product applied too thick making it heavy on the nail plate
most unlikely, but possible is the use of MMA, an inferior product similar to EMA which is completly safe and suitable for atificial nails.
if the pain does not go the best thing will be to soak them off. get this done at a professional nail salon, if you pull them off you will do more damage and cause more pain.

let me know how you get on
