QuestionHi,I do gel nails with frenchtips, they look fine the first day but second day a few of them look cloudy and opaque from the lanula area(near the cuticle).I use ibd bonder and intense seal uv top coat.and cm brand of gel,a mix of alcohol and acetone mix to prep.I have the 5bulb ,36 watt uv lamp,so how much should i cure in every step?Im sure the curing time will differ according to the bulbs one has, also it feels hot when I cure the third time for two minutes(1st cure with bond-2min,second with all over
gel coat for 1 min, third with curve building for 2min(it feels hot on nails this time!)and intense seal for 2min after wiping with alchohol and buffing to finish.I use alchohol and acetone to prep 1:1 ratio to prep, please tell me what Im doing wrong and is my curing time ok?
AnswerIf the nail is cloudy, it isn't curing completely.
Every layer of gel should be cured for the full time on your lamp. Your best bet is to contact your product manufacturer directly and ask for help there.
And also a quick note- gel will heat up during curing because of the high amount of PI (photoinitiator). This is what causes the gel to cure- if you apply the gel too thickly, or the nail plate underneath is damaged, you will get quite an intense feeling of HOT. Try using more thin layers instead of one thick one.
Good luck!
