Acrylic Teeth Coloring: Minimizing Filing for Pink & White Veneers

Question
Hi Megan,
I was wondering how much of the white acrylic you have to file off for the pink/white fills. I was reading that you definitely have to file off all the pink where the smile line is but do you really have to file off so much of the white? I am trying to cut my time down but it still takes me about an hour and a half to do these and I know there has to be a better way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks (:
Beth

Answer
Beth,
For pink and whites the easiest way is to use a drill. Put in the small but piece designed for pink and white fills and you drill out a small smile line where the white should go. You then file down only the pink that is lifting around the cuticles as you would a regular fill.  After all the filing is complete... you would fill in all the white on all ten nails, then fill in all the pink and pull it down over the entire nail. File all of them a perfect shape and buff and your finished. This process should never take you more than 45 min.

Another technique some techs use is too soak all ten nails in acetone for no more than 6 min. This will make the top layer a "gummy" tacky surface. You would then take the file to the entire nail to make it a little thinner. Then apply pink and whites Like a new set on top of what they already have.

Hopefullly that made sense! If you have any more questions let me know
