Gel vs. Acrylic Nails: Which is Stronger & Best for Lifting?

Hi, i recently got a set of gel nails.  I am having lifting on my two middle fingers because of re-occuring banging on them.  I have heard acrylic is harder.  My question is can I switch to acrylic or will I have to take off the gels first.  Can acrylic and gel be used on top of one another?

most techs combine gel and acrylic but most of the times this is not something we suggest. You should ask your tech and be sure that both are from the same company.

If you were my client I would take them off first and then put acrylic....
