QuestionHello, I recently had a new set of acrylics put on, with a UV gel topcoat. The tech did not wash her hands or mine, nor did she push my cuticles back. I understand all of this should have been done.
After I went home, I noticed that the tips of my natural nails were not fully adhered to the underside of the artifical tips, so there was a space between the tip and my own nail. I did not want water to get trapped, so I carefully washed and dried my hands and filled the space with nail glue to fill the gap.
Now I have noticed a small crack in the acrylic of one nailand I know I should get it fixed, but, I don't want to go back to that salon. Should I take off the acrylics and start over at a different salon or would a different salon be willing to fix and do fills for me? I did get colored french tips (blue sparkle). I'd hate to keep wasting money going from one salon to another, just to find out their work is not the best. I live in a small town, so I don't have much of a selection.
AnswerHola Izzy,
The first thing you need to do when you get your nails done is to wash your hands. (I do not wash mine with every client due to severe eczema-the water irritates it and makes my hands burn)
If you were started with tips, your tech should have asked you if you wanted your nails cut back. This is something I explain to my clients. It is best to take them back. (could your tech have even understood you?)
If you find a GOOD tech, she or he can repair the nail. You need to stay away from the SHOPS that do not understand you and what you want. You also need a tech who keeps up with education.
You can drop me a line to let me know what town you are in and I can put out an APB for you. I never guarantee that I can find a tech, but I can surely try.
I would not take them off unless they are so bad and you may get a bacterial infection under the product. (NOT mold or fungus, as that is NOT what it is)
buenos dias,
Lynnette
