QuestionHello,
Today I went to a salon in Melbourne to get my nails done & asked for gel (I usually get acrylic).
They instead went to apply a 'powder gel'.
What is the difference between acrylic powder and gel powder. Are they infact the same thing, just with different labels to fool the public into paying more? The only difference I could tell was that the powders were different colours.
Also another customer who was getting her nails done said to me that I would find that the 'powder gel' was much the same as the 'uv gel', except stronger, so infact poweder gel is better, is this true?
Thanks
Emma

AnswerHi Emma ,
You are correct it is a scam to get you to pay more! A true gel nail is in a gel form until cured under a uv lamp. you go under the lamp at least 4-6 times each hand depending on the gel product. Gel also NEVER yellows and NEVER has to be removed and redone. and it has virtually no odor.
I feel very strong that the client should know what she is paying for and the difference between the different nail products.
My advice is to pay a little extra and go to a reputable salon and get a real set of gels you will LOVE them.
Hope this helps!
