Gel Nail Allergy: Symptoms, Causes & What to Do
QuestionHi, I have always kept my nails natural, but recently decided to start using a real gel overlay. I had put on about 5 days ago, and already have 4 that need repair. I went today and the tech said I may be allergic. I have not experienced any itching of swelling, just a little tenderness where the gel was lifting or cracking. I have never used any of these products before and am not sure what to expect. I have not been any more rough with my hands than I usually am, so I am not quite sure what is happening. Thanks for your time. (and yes, it 100% real gel, no powder)
AnswerHi Lisa,
Sometimes when you first put a set of nails on no matter what the product you might get lifting.
Your nails sometimes need that first fill and then they are adjusted.I had one client who had very oily nail beds and no matter what was put on her it lifted in a few days, this is also something to take into consideration.
Usually with gel there is other products similar to the bonder but used when the regular bonder doesn't do the job!I don't know what product you have on so I wouldn't be able to tell you the names of those other products you would have to ask your tech.Usually lifting is not a sign of allergy! If the lifting persists after that first fill maybe you need to try a different gel. Gels are not all the same,so switching might also be an option.
Hope This Helps!!
