Understanding Contraindications in Nail Treatments: A Comprehensive Guide

Question
Hi Amber, could you please answer my question , What is meant by the term contra-indication and contra-action .thank you

Answer
Here are some key pionts you need to pay attention to.
This is a very indepth subject I could go on forever.
I hope this helps you out!

Contra-indications are diseases and disorders of the natural nail, and skin that may prevent or restrict a treatment.

Infectious Diseases- viral infections, warts ,impetigo

Scabies-   A skin infection caused by mites

Ringworm-  A fungal infection giving a ringlike appearance
Cuts/Abrasions- small cuts can be covered and treatment then carried out at the discretion of the therapist. Large cuts should be allowed to heal before nail treatment can take place.

Swelling-Swelling can be caused by accidents and infections. If the client has an infection, the nail tech can refer the client to their G.P. before nail treatments.

Redness-. Can be caused by hot, cold, infection, and a reaction to chemicals Treatment depends on the comfort of the client.

Most of what I have listed are highly contagious.
The best rule of thumb is if it doesn't look right to you as the tech recommend they see a doctor, have them come back with a note.
Your clients will respect you for the professionalism and concern.
