Gel Nail Clarity & Color Options: A User's Experience
QuestionI've been getting UV gel nails for a few years now and love them. In the past I got clear gel and my tech gave me a french nail polish on top of the gel. I think the gel was IBD. Then she switched to a new gel (not sure of brand) and started giving me pink and white gel, so that she no longer had to do the french polish. This was fine, except I wasn't so crazy about the pink gel so I told her just to do clear gel with white gel tips. Now, I'm not sure if my problem appeared once she switched to the new gel, or if it had been there before. But I've noticed that my gel is not so clear anymore. It used to be very clear and you could see my natural pink nail bed through it. Now the gel seems cloudy/ whitish. When I go for fills she files quite a bit of the old gel off. Is the cloudy look coming from the thin layer of gel that is still adhered to my nail after she files? Is there anyway to go back to the clear look I had? Do you think it's the gel product, the ways it is curing, or just the fact that I've had so many applications that I can't go back to the like-new look? Since gel can't be soaked off, you can't really start from scratch. This seems to be a drawback of gel, would you agree or not?
AnswerHi,
Anytime you switch gel colors pink to clear or to soft white you have to remove alomost all the old product because you will see the different colors threw.
All gels are not created equal some have a more cloudy look to some of there colors.
I would say if you didn't have a problem until she switched products than you are correct it's the product.Have the tech file them as thin as she can ake off all the product from the nail bed but leave the product on the tip and start off fresh with a clear if she does it this way you dont have to get a new set but it will look like one.
Good Luck
