QuestionHello,
I was wondering what would be the best way to mold silver around something. I have an ammonite that I would like to mold silver around. The silver I have is 1/8 wide. I tried to solder it but that did not work. Would a pencil torch work? And if so how would I go about doing it? I would like to mold the silver around the ammonite creating a silver edged look.
Appreciate your help.
Christine
AnswerGreetings,
I would read my previous responses which will explain the processes required.
Quickly, I would anneal the silver and then bend it to the shape, then I would solder it.
Then I would anneal it again, followed by essentially setting the piece front and back as a rub-over setting.
Hope this is of assistance.
Thanks, P
