QuestionQUESTION: how do i recycle color stone jewelry....plain as well as with diamonds. can i melt them...if yes then at what temp?
ANSWER: Greetings,
First you need to remove the stones, which is quite easy using a flat graver or setting tool.
Then you need to separate the different Karatted metals.
Then heat and pour an ingot. Temperature would be around 1050C.
Check my previous answers as I have discussed the melting process at length in the past.
Good Luck and cheers, P

QUESTION: Thank for your reply. However, i do not wish to expend valuable time in removing the stones. Is there a way by which i can do away with the color stones and get the gold?
AnswerOk, I understand, but the problem is that the stones have a very high melting point, so you do need to remove them or they will end up in the mix.
If you don't wish to keep the stones, then the easiest way to remove them is to crush the ring with plyers or hammer....once they are crushed as such, then they should simply fall out.
Thats probably the easiest way to do it.
If you want to retain the stones, then you're only option is as described earlier.
Good Luck, P
