Alternative Adhesives for Jewelry Wire on Glass & Silverware

Question
I'm an artisan who creates beaded jewelry and I have recently been tackling beading silverware, glass stems,  etc. I have been having a very hard time finding an adhesive that holds wire to glass or flatware. I came across solder and precious metal clay in a syringe and was wondering if this could be used instead of trying to glue 18 gauge wire. Please help!

Answer
Greetings,
The solder and clay that you refer to requires heat of around 800C, which obviously is way too hot for glass.
I ideally you want an adhesive which doesn't dry hard but flexible. This is because of the different shrinkage and expansion rates of glass and metal......so ideally you might be looking at something which is silicone based.
I would try the signwriting, industrial signage industry and see if someone local has something that is fine enough for your need.
I have also found a urethane gel, which dries very flexible however it takes about 48 hours to set.

I have attached silver to glass bottles in the past and spoke with the techs at Ciba Geigy - the parent company of Araldite - who at times have supplied me with samples of new adhesives....They have always been really really helpful.

Hope this is of assistance.
Cheers, P
