Identifying 'Lohengrin' Ring Markings: History & Significance

Question
Hello-
My husband received his grandfather's 18k white gold wedding band some time ago. It has a marking on the inside that says "Lohengrin". Can you tell me who/what this is? The ring is dated 1933. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
G'day Rebecca and many thanks for your query

Lohengrin is a character from an Opera so maybe the person who had the item made also was an opera lover? There is NO KNOWN maker using that as a Maker's Mark.

But you have to remember there is no central register for makers marks as anyone in the world can make jewelry and they don't have to conform to American Standards either.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. It's a very romantic tale though...

Hope this helps
