Rose Cut Diamond Ring: History, Markings & Value
QuestionI have an heirloom ring, a rose cut stone 3/8 in diameter, in a lovely Victorian setting. It belonged to an aunt, and I've had it for 50+ years. I was told by my uncle that the ring belonged to my Aunt's mother, probably her engagement ring. Inside the ring are the markings "AJ0 14 KE" Does this mean that the ring is electroplated? Is there a maker clue I'm missing? Thanks!
AnswerHello Paula and thank you for your inquiry. The 14KE probably does mean electroplated. The AJO could be the manufacturer. Are you sure it isn't AJC ? I have no AJO listed in my resources but have an AJC that was active during the 1920's. Since this is an heirloom you might want to take it to a jeweler for an appraisal just to make sure of the gold marking and stone identification. Sounds very pretty. Good luck !
