Is My Hallmark '999' Gate Bracelet Real 24K Gold? - Expert Appraisal

Hello , just wondering if you can help me.I have purchased a vintage gate bracelet from the united kingdom.The bracelet has
999 imprinted on it . this is all the markings there is, looking up some websites ,the information says it is 24ct gold, can you tell me if this is true.I have taken the item to jewellers but they cannot tell me what carat gold this marking stands for, your help would be much appreciated.
It seems to be at least 20 to 25 years old.

It is highly unlikely that the item is pure 24Karat Gold, it would be very soft and it would not have lasted 25 years from wear and tear...without actually seeing it in my hand it is very difficult to give you an intelligent firm answer. Would you be able to send me a picture of the item? can you also macro the stamp? If you can call local jewelers and ask them if they have the tools for an acid gold test, there are several tools on the market today which can detect Karat content. This is the only sure way to know what you have.
