QuestionHi Les,
This is Alan from the UK.
I am thinking about purchasing an old walking stick which has a highly decorative gold coloured metallic tip on the handle. There are some marks which are a little indistinct and was wondering whether you could give me some guidance.
there are letters WP or possibly WH.
Underneath this are three panels the first contains the number 18, the second panel contains what appears to be an uppercase G and the third has been polished so that it is totally unrecognisable. Do these marks indicate that this is 18 carat gold? I always thought that 18 carat was indicated with a 750 in the UK.
Thank you kindly in anticipation.
Alan.
AnswerAlan-
The industry is NOT such that we can determine Value, weight, condition, size, etc.... just by a few Initials, although it would be nice to have some type of standard....
Unfortunately what you are asking me cannot be determined by the little info you have given, not that its your fault in anyway, its just not determinable from a description, I would take the item to a local jeweler whom you trust with a good reputation and get their opinion.
sorry I could not help in this case
Les
