Melting Down Old Gold: A Guide for Jewelry Makers

Question
I am a jewelry maker and I make handmade silver jewelry of my own design.  I want to experiment with some gold and would like to begin by melting down some old gold that I have.  I regularly make silver balls using a charcoal block.  Can I melt my old gold down the same way?  If not, what is the proper way for me to melt down my old gold for reuse?  Thank you so much for your help.

Answer
Greetings,

Its all exactly the same, except you may find the gold melts easier.
One point is to not mix different carats together as this may create some very weird gold, which might be very brittle or hard or many other things...

Good Luck, P
