Question
Helloi have a braclet that is stamped 18k and underneth that stamp thier is the numbers 0.750 also on the right side of the stamp thier is a circular objet which resembles a head that has a dot inside it what does this mean?

Answer
Brian, hello and glad to have you ask this question.

I am unable to tell you about the "head with a dot" because this is likely the makers mark and I do not answer questions on makers marks. There are thousands of jewelry makers from today and back into history and too many to properly locate.

As for the other marks, sure, you have an answer here tonight.  The 18k is of course the mark for 18 karat gold. The 750 has the very same meaning as 18k and some jewelry has only the 750 to indicate 18 karat gold.

Where does the 750 come from?  Pure gold is considered 24 karat.  18 karat has 18 parts of pure gold mixed with other metals to make a total of 24 parts.  This means a number showing the decimal value of the pure gold is found like this: 18/24 = 0.750.  That is where the 750 comes from, generally with the decimal point left out of the mark.

There you have it!   Enjoy the 18k bracelet.

God Bless and Peace.  Thomas.
