Understanding AU 14K Gold Bracelets: Meaning & Value
QuestionI recently bought a tri-colored X stampato bracelet from a well known store's on-line auction. The bracelet coloring is beautiful but it just doesn't 'feel' right. It feels hollow. I was just wondering what the stamping means. It is stamped AU 14K with Turkey right below on the clasp.
AnswerHi Melissa,
It may very well be hollow and still be 14K. AU may stand for the element sign for gold or the initils of the maker.
14K is 58.5% gold.
On large link pieces as well as small link pieces hollow manufacturing is common.
Thanks for writing,
